About the Event
I spy...Birds!
With their bright colors, acrobatic flight, and beautiful song, birds have long inspired humans in poetry, art, and science. The Lawrence Nature Center has a variety of habitats - meadow, forest, and stream - that make for a good diversity of bird species to observe. We'll start in the meadow where it's easier to see birds and then proceed to the forest where we have to depend on our hearing to identify them by sound and, if we're lucky, by sight. Come learn how to identify birds of the Nature Center, learn a bit about their natural history, and recite bird-themed poetry and prose. Hikers of all ages are welcome, but children under age 8 must have an adult present. Please bring binoculars if possible; we'll have a few extras to loan out if needed.
