This vigil is an event in the memory of the valor of the soldiers who fought in the American Revolution. The program will commemorate the one-night encampment of the 2nd NY Regiment on the farm that was located where the Anne Demarais Nature Center and the Notre Dame High School now are sited.

The Rear Guard chose that location to guard the critical bridge that stood where Route 206 now crosses the Shabakunk Creek. Five Years previously, that same little bridge had been the site of Col. Edward Hand’s successful delaying action prior to the Second Battle of Trenton, which was fought along the Assunpink Creek in Trenton.
